On 23 October 2012 a K-8 Karakorum training plane lost directional control during take off from Julius Nyerere International Airport, Dar es Salaam. Both pilots ejected but one of them was killed on impact. The plane left the runway and struck a container.

WTF the rookie and trainer ejected on the tarmac? Doesn’t make sense at all from the pics??? The pics shows a broken canopy wind shield??? An ejected canopy wind shield detaches uniformly from the main body like this RAF pic, http://www.metro.co.uk/news/881097-red-arrows-pilot-dies-after-ejector-seat-failure-at-raf-scampton
the Tz one is still attached with a broken wind shield?? or may be they hardn,t buckled and were thrown off breaking the shield during the inpact??? Ok we hear more as time goes by.
You heard of the “Chosen tribe” activities at our north neighbor?

@Olekoima thats thier That’s their training sch color scheme.KAF is red and white. Interesting It indicates that the K-8 is dedicated exclusively of training (fast jet trainer). That means a better or more advance bird is due in soon as the main air force war craft.
This is how EAC air forces standings are or will be 5 yre down.

You can see where the rockets burnt the paint over the engine intake. The damage to the plane is minimal considering they ejected and the fatality.
Interesting you list the K-15 for Kenya. Good news.

@tempest Maybe my typing era but no it isn,t. @TZ K-8 a colleague tells me may be the canopy hutch didn,t open sending the fliers throw the glass shield Which could have lead to the factuality.

Did the TZ K8 instructor leave the rudders to the student unmonitored? With civies, the KCAA will cancel your instructor licence on the spot! And why are the flaps down????mogen wrote:Risasi wrote:

Anyway, the Sudanese are pinning their evidence of Israeli involvement on Israeli munitions, its really speculative. In the end though, Israel has the motive to conduct such a raid...not ignoring the fact it has done so twice in the past already.

I think i finally got it! if you look at the below Google Earth screen shot you will notice one thing, the plane was nowhere near the threshold of the nearest runway. Actually it was generally about 300 metres from RNW 14. .Risasi wrote:@jas on the flaps down issue , pictures get

Going by the 'flaps down' config of the aircraft at the terminal point my idea is that...the crew did a normal startup with no brakes on, the plane leapt forward, crew panicked and ejected (or attempted, going by the pics), plane bumps into a hangar pillar n a shipping container and nicely stops itself. however by the minimal damage (compare with the Zim K 8 below) then id say the power on the engines wasn't too much, otherwise we'd have had a Hollywood style fireball.. Question, don't the Tanzanians know their checklist off head? there's a reason you always say 'brakes on' just before you start the plane.

Radar for the TZ Sea board
http://www.dmilt.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=4295:tanzania-new-coastal-surveillance-systems-activated&catid=36:africa&Itemid=55
A new integrated radar and automatic identification system (AIS)
coastal surveillance system has been successfully installed in Tanzania
as part of a broader project headed by the International Maritime
Organisation (IMO) which aims to significantly enhance maritime
situational awareness in the region.
The maritime surveillance system was delivered over the past 12 months
by the IMO in partnership with the Tanzanian and US governments, with
Forward Slope, a privately owned company based in San Diego, California,
acting as prime contractor. The system included a 12 ft Raytheon X-band
radar.
According to the IMO the system will provide a coastal picture to both
the Tanzanian Peoples' Defence Forces and civilian authorities at the
Dar es Salaam Maritime Rescue Sub-Centre and the integral Information
Sharing Centre. This will allow resource-limited seagoing forces to have
a better chance of effectively reacting to maritime security threats
such as piracy, the IMO said.
Originally conceived as a bilateral military project between the US and
Tanzania, the IMO took over responsibility for the initiative in order
to integrate the system for civil and maritime law-enforcement use,
bringing all maritime agencies together to counter maritime security
threats such as piracy.
The work completes the first phase of a wider programme that will
provide similar systems in states bordering the Mozambique Channel and
its approaches, with work being carried out as part of the IMO's
counter-piracy programme under the Djibouti Code of Conduct and
including financial contributions from the Djibouti Code Trust Fund.

Some young men of JWTZ who completed military training "Operation Census" of 842 KJ Mlale JKT pass infront of invitees, friends and relatives during the ceremony to complete their training in Songea.
They look lively, young and kicking by gawd! At long last they are re-surfacing for some fresh air.
They look more like our NYS?

IVAN'S NAVY RECENTLY TRAINED JLWT-N
The Russian naval ship Marshal Shaposhnikov has left Tanzania after four days in Dar es Salaam providing anti-piracy training to the Tanzanian navy, Tanzania's Daily News reported Thursday (February 28th).
Tanzania, Mozambique, South Africa fight piracy jointly Tanzanian navy works with neighbours to combat piracy Japanese navy in Dar es Salaam for anti-piracy training British navy in Dar es Salaam to conduct anti-piracy training
During the first visit of a Russian warship to Tanzania, Russian soldiers shared their skills and experience fighting piracy with their Tanzanian counterparts, according to a statement from the Russian embassy in Dar es Salaam.
"The trip itself also assures the presence of a warship in the Indian Ocean, which has had a positive effect on piracy in the region, with attacks decreasing consistently," the statement said.
A delegation from the warship also met with Dar es Salaam Mayor Didas Masburi and Commander of the Tanzanian navy Major General Said Shaaban Omari.

Just blame "it" on the media. The last time I did a precautionary sweep across Tanzanian military circles, I bet the chaps are dang-good at such come-we-stay matters. Careless press.

I am reliably informed the lady kneeling is Prof. Etta Banda (no relation to Joyce Banda), Nkhata Bay South MP Malawi's Foreign Minister during Bingu Wa Mutharika's (R.I.P) time. And certainly the events of the photo happened before the Lake Nyasa standoff.
I once shared with members here on how to do a free online reverse image search (finding out what other sites are hosting an image). Try it out once in a while, very handy tool.
