You're take on this guys

Might be some truth, but very hidden and / or twisted in this self-serving NGOs reporting. Without conflicts in Africa, most of these Mzungu Vulture-type NGOs would close shop completely. Most of them are documented to have sustained these conflicts by whatever means - case in point is the Zoomaliya maelstrom lasting twenty years.

@ON
Very True. Careers and BIG dollars are made daily by NGOs wherever there is conflict. Many of them aren't happy to see peace come to Soomaaliya. Happily benefitting from the misery of other people. Washindwe kabisa. bure kabisa.

It is obviously for the Somalis fighting alongside the KDF. Even in other sectors, i see them eating Sphagheti, while other soldiers eat posho and more harder foods.

THE MRC threat is very real and right under our noses. Where there is a free entprise order, the environ ensures the birth of active separatist outfits that seek philanthropical satisfaction via intense dramatic tension.

There's a Somali hotel in Nairobi CBD called pronto. u go there n order Brimo n Alesso. it's a dish consisting of pilau and pasta(brimo) and goat meat boiled in herbs (alesso). this gives you a general idea of the Somali staple, Pasta. I think the writer here displays an ignorance and eagerness to bash the system that is typical of Kenyans. A little research before hand would have been helpful.

The journo is a lazy one who didn't even care to check out the nutritional value of pasta. Bure kabisa.
Pasta is classified as low GI (glycaemic index) food. Like ugali or githeri, pasta takes a while to be digested meaning the energy contained in eaten pasta is availed to the body slowly [i.e. as it is needed]. These kind of foods are therefore good for diabetics, soldiers and anyone who wants to keep fit and energetic. The pasta is good for SNA as well KDF soldiers. Pasta and spaghetti are different from the instant noodles.

Someone please tell that lazy journalist to go do his homework.

Damn right, Observer. It would be very simplistic for anyone in Kenyana to expect Sammny, and Johnny, to simply lay back and get screwed by Uncle Woo and hand over Kenyana without a whimper to Uncle Woo. Kenyana is the next frontier of Industrial Imputs and Commodity/Finance/Services Markets in Africa. You must all know by now that some of those Equipment Transfers long anticipated from Sammy have been inexplicably ''held-up''! The Elections 2013 has muddled up matters significantly because the results are not as clear as earlier projected - who will they be dealing with post 2013 March? The game is getting very complex and we need to up our game significantly, wise like the serpents.
Lets start by sorting out the persisting Sudan questions without Sammy's meddling, and quickly get a good handle on the Eastern DRC maneno also without Sammy meddling as he has begun to do with these high accusations to the Tall Thin Man on what we all know anyway to be true!! We know that Eastern DRC Maelstrom is much more than Sammy has been making it look like, and to a large degree Sammy bears the greatest blame for it, anyway.

There are some recently well written articles running in the SIN - not beating their drums, btw, but worthy a read.

Yes, this is the folly of relying on the west for support and supplies. They can screw you at your hour of need. What blackmail. Why not just embrace the east for military supplies and forget the west altogether? Eastern weaponry is not only cheaper in comparisson, but is equally effective and without strings attached. This is especially true of Russian stuff.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) - Page 29 Empty Kenyanna Destablization on Course

Post  Analyst Mon Jul 30 2012, 23:23

The process of destabilizing the Regional Dream KENYANNA is in process.

It started in Ethiopia where two tribes started an ethnic fight

About 20000 Ethiopians have flooded Kenya as refugees

(Why would a country witness ethnic animosity shortly after the president is reportedly ill?)

CAR-Congo DRC.....The conflict has taken a dangerous turn and Rwanda has been slapped with sanctions which hurts the regional economy.

Kenya's stability could be affected politically through processes that may contort the relatively good atmosphere and send the country into another 2007-2008 melee. (Internal threats funded by foreign sympathizers such as emergence of illegal groups such as MRC, etc)

South Sudan and Sudan are still grappling with reality of their impossible peace

These scenarios when put together are indicative of the initial stages of a wider scheme to preempt the gains of a strong East and Central Africa.

There is also more to worry about; Tanzania is pulling sideways with South Africa being its preferred trade partner instead of Nairobi. Dar is accused of bad policies to stymie Kenyan franchises from making inroads in its soil while South African companies continue to thrive.

The same problem is cropping up in Southern Sudan where the South Africans are working very hard using underhand/black-hat methods to edge out Kenya in business contracts in South Africa.

In Somalia, the eventuality will certainly come out after Operation Linda Inchi-now AMISOM...ends besides the political transition throughout August and September.

Here Economic Espionage and militia activities will certainly procure results that will derail the Kenyanna process.

Call it 'Early Warning'

@Analyst, sometime back i crossed the border down south into J.K's territory..i was shocked! Everything on the shelves is either South African or Chinese, even MILK! The level of antipathy towards Kenyans and everything Kenyan is on a national level. It doesn't make sense that a 2 litres bottle of Bidco cooking oil costs more than an equivalent from S.A or China. We lost the Tanzanians long ago, we should be actively working for a Pro-Kenyan PM after J.K. It doesn't make sense for one to finish a neighbour (who'll help when things get elephant) only to promote a 'friend'. By the way, i hear they had the same dance with Uganda sometimes back, something about non-tariff Duty.

True Jasiri.....

Av been watching in dismay as South Africa works its way through East Africa and our neighbors have opted them than Nairobi.

South Africa arms industry benefits from Kenya and other regions players yet Pretoria has been lobbying for the Uganda-Tanzania transport corridor to edge out Kenya.

The non-tarriff duty and the objective of a Uganda-Tanzania trade route kills the Kenyanna dream since it only brings Rwanda, DRC, CAR, and Burundi out of the import-export cold through the Tanzania-Lake-Victoria avenue and the Uganda-Tanzania trade route.

This route is shorter, hence increase efficiency and delivery of imports and exports, besides opens up the central African region to more investments due to accessibility. Two, the projected economic scenario shows cost of transport and even cross-border business between Tanzania-Uganda and the Central Africa region would significantly come down.....(why then waste time with Kenyanna?)....asks Pretoria....Johnny...and...Sammy

Pretoria coaxes them with this argument......imagine the rapid growth in employment, development and creation of more trade and job opportunities through building of dry-ports, shipping lines, and logistics companies....it could be a massive economic bubble for Tanzania and Uganda.

This problem showed its gravity through AU elections, Dlamini was voted in through deal cutting-lobbying-BRICS nexus, promising rebates and debt risk mitigation/relieve to poor African countries. These countries were to give kickbacks through trade agreements and cheap trade licenses for South African firms looking for new markets.

South Africa, like the US and Britain, are more worried about a strong East and Central Africa with Nairobi as the economic hub than seeking their own niche in the region.

Emerging markets do not require guidance in what to consume rather a fairly competitive pricing models and quality products and services all which provide a rich ground for healthy competition.

Nairobi is facing too much resistance in its effort to pin a regional economic hub in East and Central Africa, and the resistance is coming from serious players who reckon, a strong Nairobi and stable East and Central Africa will edge out their muscle in managing political-economic schemes in Africa.

MRC fits into this equation as someone has alluded ... a ploy to destabilize the coast as the election draw nearer, bearing in mind its significance on trade and the infrastructure development post 2013 (a judgement has already been made by the court of appeal today), plus the civil society (we know who pays the piper) seem to support the ruling on the outfit. Are we likely to see a "2007" scenario unfolding ... too many "hotwired" things on the table and too many fine lines ... we need a sober executive post 2013 March ...

Observer.....

The scenario further unfolds with the NSIS playing a key role in trying to preempt these internal threats on Kenya through the elections.

Elongating the lifespan of the current Nairobi regime would ensure core factors including infrastructure and defense shields, besides specific geopolitical arrangements such as a peaceful DRC, a solid trade partnership with Rwanda, a sober and functioning Juba, and a safe Somalia, with Uganda (largest Nairobi trade partner) in tow,...remain committed and overly involved in consolidating the economics made in the recent past.

The Matrix is very complex here but we can easily fill the gaps.
Nairobi is desperate to keep its grip on the gains and measures need to suffice to neutralize the threat.

exactly what i was thinking. The 'coincidence is too much. Meles hasn't hit the ground and the country is already tearing at the seams! aiiih!

Might we see another Libya/Syria in Ethiopia???....with the tag "Western Proxies"? Risen eyebrows.

This canterkerousness is very much unexpected...Too bad...a hit below the belt.

I believe that the current regime in nairobi is doing its best to pre-empt the threat of the South Africans, Johnnie, Sam et al. However, the question is whether the upcoming regime will have the mettle to keep up and formulate a structure that will safeguard the the superiority of the East and Central African region. Kenyana is a great way of doing this but we MUST make each nation in the Kenyana region to understand the long-term effect of Kenyana...each country has a unique input that contributes to the dominance of Kenyana in Africa and the world as a general.

I beg to differ with the view that .ke is being squeezed from the south by the Vuvuzelas. By all means .ke is well positioned geographically, personnelwise and resourcewise to take on any country in this region or down south. The kind of Macro economic activities being put in place by the current regime in NBO will ensure that the country is transformed to a middle income status country much earlier than in the V-2030 blueprint. Both TZ and UG have had experiences with ZA investments which later failed exposing their bottoms, a good example is the marriage between SAA ATCL and Uganda Airlines. By all means .ke is the biggest source of FDI for both UG and RWA. It is also emerging as a key investor in SS and Burundi. May be by the exit of Meles the Ethiopian Market will be open and companies like Bamburi, EABL and KCB can take up the opportunities offered by that immense market. Before the end of this year Equity an indegenously formed bank will be opening a branch in Mogadishu to provide services to the large Kenyan humanitarian community there more like the way KCB opened a branch in Rumbek SS in 2006. I beleive the current generation in .ke have got the zeal to take on anyone and they have shown that the capability is there.

ZA is very far down south and as far as the indications from the multinational companies now setting shop in upperhill is that the EAC can only be served from NBO and not Jo'burg. Tanzania is also aspiring to be like .ke that is establish transport corridors in their country which is good but bearing in mind that the Tazara corridor has never really performed to its expectations, it does not provide a good reference for any new projects of that nature, not to say that the mombasa corridor has had a good reputation but atleast it has managed to keep up with the increased traffic and also that the .ke has realised that a makeover for MBA corridor is almost the same cost as building a completely new corridor (LAPSSETT). As the middle East continues to tumble and new reservoirs for hydrocarbons continue to be discovered in 'kenyana', The dubais, dohas or even crime ridden jo'burgs will not compete with what is KENYA. Only if we keep our politics down and our economics up. ... Najivunia kuwa Mkenya.....

@Sierra Kilo

I like your take on this. However we should never be over confident. We have to '...be as wise as the the serpents' like ON says.

SS Jamhuri raises a valid point that our politics will play a major role in how things shape up post 2013. The enemies of Kenyanna know that politics is one of our soft under bellies. If we take a hit like we did in '07 it may take quite a while to rise again. We therefore have to sleep with one eye closed as we watch March 2013 approach.

As much as Vuvuzelas may be far off they would not hesitate to pull the carpet under our feet if they get a chance. Remember we are talking about Trillions in this Kenyanna region. We are talking about all manner of resources both on,off and under the ground. The stakes are higher and hence the players are even more daring. Now add Johnny(he is in Zoomaliya already) and Sammy-- Clinton atapitia hapa kutusalimia Suspect

Africa: Continent Losing Billions Through Multinationals
Since the early 1960s when multinationals entered Africa, foreign direct investment by the multinationals could have been as high as US$1.5 trillion a year.

It is estimated that Africa lost about US$854 billion in illicit financial flows over the 39 year period (1970-2008).

A yearly average of about US$ 22 billion is lost which is a considerable amount compared to both the external debt of the continent and the official development aid (ODA) received over the same period.

"Indeed, it is equivalent to nearly all the ODA received by Africa during that timeframe a record level of US$46 billion in 2010," the report adds.

"Just one-third of the loss associated with illicit financial flows would have been enough to fully cover the continent's external debt that reached US$279 billion in 2008",

It notes that the trend has been increasing over time and especially in the last decade, with an annual average illicit financial flow of US$50 billion between 2000 and 2008 compared to a yearly average of only US$9 billion for the period 1970-1999.

It contends that a significant amount of illicit outflows have not been recorded in government statistics.

Experts say the report adds a new dimension to Africa's underdevelopment dilemma.

There is an African saying that if you want to enjoy your Goat Roast in peace, throw the circling hyena a hefty bone! We would do well to borrow this traditional wisdom where Johnny and Sammy are concerned. None of the options we face are free of horrendous risks, but it is doable. The Vultures are circling, from far and wide. South Africa is African only by location, never forget, and we are locked in mortal competition with them even now.

Lets get our political matrix correct in between now and March 2013 to give us leadership credibility in Kenyana - use this to galvanize negotiated resolutions to the outstanding conflicts in Somalia, Sudan, and DRC. Throw the bone to so-and-so and it does appear the Ole Man is doing just that this very moment in London.

I totally agree... in any case.. Kenya must understand that for it to become the big brother of this region then it has to lead by deeds and not words.. the input being put by Kenya to help the neighbouring brothers in resolving conflict in the region should coincide with a smooth power transition in 2013....only then can we claim to be the "leader" of this region

Maybe its time we start our own little conflict next to our 'friendly' Neighbours to keep them busy and to ponder. Our Biggest headache as far as I am concerned is our TZ. They are being used as a rolling block by South Africa to protect the Southern Market preventing Kenyana penetrating the local markets. Its time Kenyana becomes more proactive in influencing the regions around us. Why should we be 'negotiating' with Kir and Kabila when we should be influencing their day to day policies ! Its not arrogancy but that is politics. If you cant put your house inorder, your neighbour will to prevent his burning down. Tanzania should be declared a hostile neighbour ie none of its policy is aligned with any EAC country.

What it helping ole man is a hawkeyed leadership that compliments Kenya's political muscle within kenyana and africa. Someone says kenya needs to act big, it does not. In kenyana kenya is doing well than most countries that are are just taking off. READ the tall thin one. They are getting loans from prescriptive IMF to build key projects like airports amidst tight sanctioning of aid withdrawal and negative reports about them facilitating rebel movement/m23. Others are getting aid to develop their legal systems, while ole man embarks on lappset and other key developments.

heh heh heh ..... innocuous mental excersices from what sammy and his fellow "profligates" call collective bargaining. Where the victim is left muffled. Can someone tell Sierra Kilo Kenya does not even condon such bargaing. We do not even need to be enraged by SA goods flooding the TZ. Market. There is an unofficial begging culture that has began in kenyana, where the recipients admits their wobliness to facilitate milestone project. The vuvuzelas nexus between economic and political leadership is weak hence cannot justify to alienate kenyas export market.
