Kenya has been asked to set up a new camp for hundreds of Sudanese fleeing fighting in their countries. The influx of refugees at Kakuma refugee camp in
Turkana County has strained resources, leading to incessant fights, a UN
agency said. The head of the United Nations High Commissioner
for Refugees (UNHCR) office in Kakuma, Mr Guy Avognon, said the camp was
filling up fast and he had requested the government to allocate more
land for a new camp.

Hello guys just wanted to find out what you guys think about this issue which is revisiting us after a undergoing a similar one two decades ago

For these refugees, Kakuma is the only place they have ever known peace and to return there is like a home coming for them. These people should not be made to sit in camps and drain resources but should be absorbed to be part of the productive population. This has been done before during the Ugandan civil unrests at the time of Amin, there were Ugandan teachers and doctors even in public schools and hospitals. This would be a small bit in the larger pie of regional integration that is Kenyana.

Kenya is the homeland of the refugees reminds of a poem that said" give me all you're huddle masses to my golden doors"....We are known to host many nations and one day this will be the binding force for Kenyana.

Much of south Sudanese population for many years have been stripped of their basic right for recognition internationally. To sit down and think that more land is needed to make them come and dwell in camps is unfeasible. I was listening to a BBC podcast recently by a Kenyan reporter and I was amazed about life in Daadab. Most refugees were born there learned there and graduated from school in that camp. So I think such is in the similitude of re-settlements

Just how much burden should Kenya continue to shoulder on behalf of the international community who are not even thankful. Granted, i have much pity for the refugees, but the international community should also chip in and help feed, educate and pay for the security of these people including provision of basic needs such as tents/Housing. Kenya alone cannot shoulder all these. We have in excess of 600,000 refugees from Somalia alone.
