Air Lift
I thought of this combination of lifters, checking on their price per unit, Medium lift: Harbin Y-12F & AN 140 ($9000), Also C-130 ($10.8 mil), Heavy lift IL-76 ($50 mil). Thought it to be good lo cost combination. A helicopter combination of Mil-171e and the Mi-26 heavy lift would be great.MWAURA wrote:mambotupu wrote:1. C-145A Skytruck 3 pcs

"The C-145A is a twin-engine, high-wing aircraft with twin vertical fins and a non-retractable tricycle landing gear capable of short takeoff and landings to unprepared runways. The C-145 is reconfigurable to support both airland and airdrop of cargo (max 2,400 lbs) and personnel, casualty evacuation, combat search and rescue, humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations. The C‑145A can carry a maximum of 16 passengers or 10 combat rigged paratroopers. Maximum cargo weight is 5,000 lbs, or up to four litter patients. Missions can be conducted to prepared and semi-prepared airfields around the world."

Specs for the earlier 802u version include "It has a maximum speed of 394km/h and stall speed of 169km/h with flaps down. The patrol speed of the aircraft is 333km/h, and the maximum range is 2,414km when fitted with auxiliary fuel tanks.
The aircraft can climb at a maximum rate of 3,000ft/m, and requires a landing run of 366m, and a minimum take-off roll of 207m. It can perform 450 flight hours a year, at an average cost of below $400 per flight hour.
The aircraft features a crashworthy airframe, cockpit and engine armour, ballistic glass windshields and windows, as well as self-sealing fuel tanks, to offer superior protection to its crew members. The survivability can be further increased by installing an optional AAR-47/ALE-47 survivability system
The wing and fuselage hard points can be armed with a range of weapon systems, including dual .50 cal. GAU-19/A three-barrel gatling guns, Hellfire missiles, dual M260 seven-tube rocket launchers, and 500lb Mk-82 bombs. The hard points can be increased to 15 to carry additional armament.

It provides the commanders a real-time view of the battlefield and also transmits live video feed to other aircraft, air operation centres, or joint-terminal attack controllers on field.
The night-vision-compatible cockpit allows the pilots to conduct unconstrained night missions. The aircraft also features an inflatable restraint system, which integrates a five-point harness."

Both are good buys. We still need more medium air lift at least 6 C 295 and heavy lifters in the form of AN 70s,ideally at least 3. I hope the KAF is still looking for FSBs though Jas and Risasi have been quiet for a while now.
What do you think Mwaura

Comms
With Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) planning to begin to manufacture smart phone, maybe they can make some for KDF and police, something like ike those shown below beginning from 5:15. This will replace individual radios and allow better command control, communication,... C4

Good stuff but apparently we are paying more than double the cost and for the wrong aircraft. How are KDF procurements conducted that we end up dealing with the wrong manufacturer?

Budd Leads Fight Against Kenyan Sale
U.S. Capitol Building and Reflecting Pool
February 14, 2017
Press Release
WASHINGTON, D.C., -- Today, U.S. Representative Ted Budd (R-NC) introduced a resolution to halt a Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Kenya for 12 weaponized border patrol aircraft. The proposed sale would reward a $13 billion company that has never produced airplanes of this type and would cost $283 million dollars more than a small business in North Carolina, which is currently producing the needed aircraft. This is at least the third instance the disabled veteran-owned NC contractor was passed over, despite its ability to deliver a more cost-effective option.
“My office has received credible allegations of faulty contracting practices, fraud, and unfair treatment surrounding this sale. Given that this proposed contract was decided without competition, to a company that has no experience or track record producing this kind of aircraft, and for a price that is more than double what a contractor in our district has quoted, further investigation is definitely in order.”
The resolution I introduced today would halt this sale, and give the Congress time to look into these troubling allegations. We need to ensure that Kenya, a longtime ally, is getting a fair deal, and that veteran-owned small businesses in our state aren’t getting shut out of competition because of government favoritism towards giant contractors.”
IOMAX is a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business located in the 13th District. They are the only company in the world that can export and has exported weaponized border patrol aircraft from the United States. In spite of this reality, the Air Force, along with the Defense Security Cooperation Agency awarded a $418 million sole-source contract to L-3, a $13 billion defense contractor, to fulfill Kenya’s request for 12 weaponized border patrol aircraft. IOMAX claims that it can fulfill the contract for $180 million, and it has 48 weaponized border patrol aircraft in service, as opposed to zero for L-3.

KDF Procurement
I think the procurement department might be too corrupt and lack information on most military weapons or technology. I have never seen the KDF officials visit any arms exhibition around the world.

New Mi 17 for the police

With cattle rustling being such a problem maybe KDF could consider acquiring a LIDAR equipped aircraft. It uses lasers to get a 3d image, that way if the rustlers or sabab are hiding in a forest or cave they can be identified, see what kind of weapons they have, used to get intel by scanning a house and see whats inside without the occupants knowing... It can even be adjusted to help find what kind of minerals are in an area

Kazan RC-2
I would have preferred the Kazan RC-2 helicopter, better price and a better machine for both reconnaissance and light gunship, also better survival and crew protection in case of damage.

Kenya's Military Set for Massive Expansion, Policy Says
Kenya's military is set for massive expansion in capacity and capability so as to place it in a better position to face other large militaries and protect the country in the event of a foreign attack, a new report has said.
The National Defence Policy, launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday, said Kenya should not lose focus of other large militaries within East African region.......

Yep, that is a bell AH-1F frame. Note similar features to the U.S army version

Favor Kazan RC-2 to AH-1 vipers
Wist it was the Kazan RC-2, quite cheap probably even half a billion Ksh, fly away cost. It would also have been new and maybe a chance to bring the Kazan ansat, as an medivac for the military, or even a production line here. The US mainframes are obviously old and expensive.mambotupu wrote:Yep, that is a bell AH-1F frame. Note similar features to the U.S army version

Don't forget that SUBARU INTERNATIONAL assembles Cobras and Apaches as well. Cobra carries a punch though Mi-28 would be perfect heavy copter. Medium level is already covered by the Hughes and Z series.

What I want to know is why the KAF? A light gunship would provide added punch to the heavy MI 28 in the aircav. Generally, gunships are army aviation.

REMEMBER THE USS LIBERTY,ITS BEEN 50 YEARS!!
In early June 1967,just before Israel sparked off the preemptive 6 day war,an unarmed US Navy intel ship, the Liberty was on station in the Red Sea. After hours of surveillance, without warning the Israelis suddenly attacked. For hours they rocketed the ships killing 34 wounding over a 100. The crew got off a message to a carrier in the Med which sent planes but the survivors learned the true power of the Chosenites on that day.
Til now 50 YEARS THE ISRAELIS HAVE NEVER EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED!! Take a good look at LBJ and wife. Research the meaning of Marrano.

People, that's the way the world works! That's just what these people do! It was a false flag hoping to get Egypt blamed which is why they even machine gunned life boats. These Caucanderthals are nobody's friend.

Ironically, the first ship to reach the Liberty and offer assistance was from the Soviet Union, an offer that was declined.
