You should have been around Nyayo stadium yesterday. A curious vehicle providing over-watch at about 5000 ft above ground hivi. It only takes a little commonsense to know what it was.

Looks like Kenya and the administration in Mogadishu are headed for a collision course over the Jubbaland initiative. Just this morning i saw a story in the standard allegedly claiming that Somali MPs will be voting to censure KDF. What does this portend? It is claimed that Kenya dominates decisions in IGAD. Well i don't really think this is true, we have other major powers in IGAD such as Ethiopia and Uganda. Kenya can't bulldoze decisions without the input of the other players.

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) - Page 33 Empty T38

Post  countersniper Wed May 29 2013, 23:34

ACCORDING to this website T38 is the primary trainer aircraft used to prepare USA air force pilots for the F15 and others and also space missions... for the NASA. so last time i checked Kenya has no space program.. so it means?

http://www.af.mil/information/factsheets/factsheet.asp?fsID=126

Features
The T-38 has swept wings, a streamlined fuselage and tricycle landing
gear with a steerable nose wheel. Two independent hydraulic systems
power the ailerons, rudder and other flight control surfaces. Critical
aircraft components are waist high and can be easily reached by
maintenance crews.

The T-38C incorporates a "glass cockpit" with integrated avionics
displays, head-up display and an electronic "no drop bomb" scoring
system. The AT-38B has a gun sight and practice bomb dispenser.

The T-38 needs as little as 2,300 feet (695.2 meters) of runway to take
off and can climb from sea level to nearly 30,000 feet (9,068 meters) in
one minute. T-38s modified by the propulsion modernization program have
approximately 19 percent more thrust, reducing takeoff distance by 9
percent.

The instructor and student sit in tandem on rocket-powered ejection seats in a pressurized, air-conditioned cockpit.

Background
Air Education and Training Command uses the T-38C to prepare pilots for
front-line fighter and bomber aircraft such as the F-15E Strike Eagle,
F-15C Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, B-1B Lancer, A-10 Thunderbolt and
F-22 Raptor.

The Talon first flew in 1959. More than 1,100 were delivered to the Air
Force between 1961 and 1972 when production ended. As the T-38 fleet has
aged, specific airframe, engine and system components have been
modified or replaced. Pacer Classic is the name given to a sustainment
program that integrates essential modifications, and includes major
structural replacements into one process.

@risasi
i do not see the scare or panic in this picture of the kdf chap in a cockpit at an unknown time and date and there are no names or details of what the chap is doing or not doing.
for all i know it could be a very old picture from the days Kenya air force was preparing men for the F5 which is a continuous process every year .
The T38 is an all round commonly used first line trainer for all types of fighter jets.

A critical Strat-dilemma has been how to effectively manifest Aggressor-Force- Projection (Fixed & Rotary Air. & SOCOM) within Kenyana without a massive expansion of Ground-Handing facilities, within the severe Budgetary constraints we face. Our hip-shot suggestion was to go the Swiss-way.

Finally GoK has bought into this and prioritised it - every major highway in Kenya, present and future, is to have designated & Secured Military-grade Aircraft Landing & Handling Zones running adjacent to Vehicular and Rail traffic! Dammmee!

The Uniforms here must be frothing as I am at the possibilities and implications of this.
Hmm, do i remember someone rubbishing the swiss for exactly this sometimes back? the argument was, if the enemy is that strong then he will definitely bomb those run'hi'ways too.

Disagree with this - bomb all the run-hiways is kinda difficult if long stretches of the highways are built to accomodate aircraft - I would hazard there is only one country in the world that could take out all the run'hi'ways if they wanted too.

But this whole topic is interesting because a little bit of joining the dots if such a scheme is being put into place - does it not point us to what the future falcons/eagles whatever are going to be Wink

Remind me "What was the eagle called that tried to cross the road Wink"

@Sayaret,
I went AWOL for the last 48 hours. Always on the clock. Actually had my day yesterday after buying the antettion of some Agency-rookies who settled for a 'Probox' fully equipped with an automated Music-System for a 'trailing' undertaking!! Tanga-Border-Msambweni-Ukunda.. .. Only to know the silly reasons behind! "Biashara-mode, Celebritism" is all I could here the chaps mummering! The rest is classified. Heheheh!
Now, to subject matter. The motive-behind having the Police to deal with internal matters has been well explained in detail here by @ole Nkarei. Following the coming together of the Kenya Police and the AP chaps, + a vetting board and then the promised reforms, That's a real deal whose fruits will be enjoyed sooner than expected. I didn't grasp the bit about "Air assets" for NFD. For mobility, it's welcome. But No Armed-Air-Vehicle (Rotary/Fixed-wing) will ever do a Fly-past over any Kenyan village in "Attack-Mode". I can bleed on that Flag to make sure the "RED" Portion remains. Never. Basketball

yes you can say that as an outsider but for an insider the rookies face is as clear as day light..i.e they were no T38C during earlier days for F-5 specialisation. only 38A/B analog cockpits. the T38C is an upgrade of the the A/B with digital controls made for tailored training instrumentation and handling. lets play safe. its an isolated class of rookies

If the MIC chaps want him, it would take less than a half-hour just using that one photo. And your friend knows this damn well @Flying Crane - he is likely sheiting hot bricks all night and all day today. Thanks for keeping this finally between your good self and Risasi - discretion and discipline. Hell, these are really bloody times we are headed to, fellas.

There is a buzz about some "surprises" tomorrow over Nairobi Skies. Young Jas alluded to one of them already turning heads over the city. All just a buzz - might yet turn out to be just a buzz! But the T38C isn't your supermarket toy, fellas. Not even a Fly-boy toy. It is specific. And indicative. And pregnant with meaning. Aiseeii.

don't worry
i was trying to draw fire from that chap in the picture by widening the angle or arc of fire .
i know the works. in fact i already have an idea what happened here and the implications if any.
that chap did not take that picture himself. his passenger did from the rear seat .
we need to know why and the intended leaks to the blogs
to me we are being set up big by someone for something to become reality.

And that the C-in-C had a sacred personal duty to protect Kenya unrestricted by method and Time. It is hardly a secret that reformed and current leadership of Alkebaab have influence and power inside the SFG as they did the TFG. And that both Governments have used AlKebaab are personalised hidden unofficial Militia inside and across the border. SGG has not even pretended to have programs to confront and defeat Alkebaab and the fighting has been left to AMISOM and local herdsmen and tribal Militia. Meantime, to get our attentions, an ocassional raid in Garissa and an egress in Mandera and Moyale. And frequent false intwl about suicide bombers headed for Uganda and Burundi. The Dollars and Euro chasing each other to Mogadishu! Damn these buggers. So, Uhuru threw down the gauntlet and in very plain words told Muhmoud the game is up.

The shocked SFG scrambled to effect Damage Control including issuing a misrepresented interpretation of the IGAD directive post the Madobe election that was as clear as noon in Turkana. I tell you there will be Hell to pay if those policemen abducted are killed or anymore attacks take place in Northern Counties.

Regardless, I restate that the line between policing internally and extenally must never get blurred even by the expediency of need. We don't require KDF to work the Northern Counties, but we need to enhance Kenya Police in material, Intelligence and supportive assistance of all GoK Agencies including MiniForeign - like the C-in-C hardtalk with SFG in Addis. Slowly that is happening. We will win this thing.
