Those are beauties spartan.russian inventors are up there with the best.I also came across the SU-47 which is an experimental supersonic fighter jet & in some photos has the wings facing the front.from the little physics i did, thought that design for the wings would create a big resistance from the air as the plane moves forward but there must be a way they are overcoming it.

That would be the F-20, originally designed as the F-5G by the same company. The other comparable plane is the Mirage-2000.



The most noticeable difference is the single more powerful engine instead of two for the F-5. I hear the F-20 lost out because the US Government decided to have more F-16s which had taken the export market by storm then. Why bro? Fear of the unknown?

More problems with the F-35A, this time round its not mechanical. word is the bird can't perform the principle task which it was designed to perform.

From where I am sitting, the F-50 is a South Korean plane. Granted, it has an American engine (General Electric F404 turbofan), but that engine is for F-18s and similar frames. I still posit that F-20 was the plane just after the F-5 series, ama?

People who clam to be in the know are saying that the F-50 program was just a proposal which the South Korean AF top brass did't seem to keen on.

The Pugachev's Cobra I would love to do that some day but for now I will dream on. The Russians are using the SU-27 design to great effect adding one or two things here and there to improve maneuverability and battle efficiency like the Canard wings just behind the nose, titanium alloy Airframe and the main wing configuration even the tandem sitting position common on the Hind.

I was posting as aircrafts influenced by the F-5. The F-20 is the only true descendant of the F-5. The others mentioned emitted designs or characteristics or simplicities of the tiger say the manufactures. The F-50 or F-5 zero as pronounced by the in circle was a design to replace the Koreas F-5 and fill in the gap as a cost effective F-16 (which is the preferred F-5 replacement) for ROKAF.

Ya machines are catching up fast, peep into a living room see items like PlayStation with Advance air combat sorties CDs let alone militarily built dog fighting simulators you get the sense of how fast machines are narrowing the gap. All in all they will always be a man if not boy in the loop. A pleasing encouragement, life wouldn’t be wasted when we “kill each other” in future modern combat 30 years today.

This is how i see it. The Air Force has finally settled on a warplane to replace or compliment the F-5's and they are using this article to soften the hearts of the mandarins that write up the budget. The easiest way to get something is to appeal to someones sense of self preservation/self profit and here, they hit it spot on.

This is what the SU-30MK2 is packing, with that payload and a well trained pilot this bird can be responsible for a bucketfull of damages.

The other day i was watching a discovery channel documentary on the history of US fighter planes and the selection of the F15 as the primmary strike plane for the USA airforce in the late seventies and early eighties.
the narator said that during live dog fIghting testing and battle simulation TWO F5 used as aggrressor planes were able to bring down a lone F15.
the performance of the F5 IS SO GOOD THAT TO DATE the americans still keep hundreds of them in their inventory as one of the main fighter trainer aircraft.

MEANWHILE the AUSTRALIANS are very worried about the massive influx of the SUKHOIS in the asia pacific theatre.
