Risasi, i thought this Wiki leaks stuff only reflects the opinion of the US ambassador thus may not necessarily be true in all counts. What do you make of the T-72 saga? Whatever it is, arming S.Sudan also represents a good strategic thinking by the planners. It is in our best interest and that of the region as well.

Re: Kenya Defence Force
on the Ar-15 I feel that opportunities were misplaced. The AR-15 is a extremely reliable assault rifle and it should have be issued to the Main military force the KA and not to policing units like the GSU. why the army still clings to its out dated G-3 while para military unit can afford Modern assaults rifles??

Re: Kenya Defence Force
The G3 that the KA is using is an upgrade version: Heckler & Koch G3 A series second edition. G3A2.
the G3 is also a standard assault weapon for NATO FORCES.

the G3's that Nato use are of the 7th series . the G3A7. the kenyan model G3A3 is no where closer to it.

Yes there you go again. You are just fond of countering people's posts and when anyone counters yours you start throwing tantrums. Just a play boy isn't it?

Re: Kenya Defence Force
The G3A7 is a Heckler & Koch assigned model number for the Turkish-made version of the G3A3. a local and not an improved version of the G3A3. get the difference?? Read through below
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heckler_%26_Koch_G3#Variants
Mr crane what happened to the Gilas ? I hear they have being turned into Somalia street scrapes.

A head counter is a command issued after a battle to see how many survived it. ……………Risasi# present and High.
About the tigers, if you are at the coast then you would have noticed them roaming over the skies. 1 EM, 1FM, 2E and 1F seiries nesting at Fob Mombasa

Re: Kenya Defence Force
The f-5em is said to be the best fighter if not the most advance in the f-5 series in the world today. The “EM” denotes E series Modified and the FM is its double seat version used in training and long Endurance mission. The F-5EM is all weather day and night attack fighter posing almost all features of an 4th generation fighter. The built of an f-5 makes it effective in dog fighting cap.

This is all nonsense, the F-5 has out leaved its days…..it comes no where near a 4th generation fighter.

Re: Kenya Defence Force
Mr Crane, its not the Kenya Media or peoples or bloggers for that matter who are pasting a good name for the F-5EM. its that professionally that are saying it. The F-5EM has a 15 year life span in the modern world

Re: Kenya Defence Force
ok but it doesn’t say any thing like kenya owning EM series... wikipedia my friends can be edited by any one....this is a open argument by the way not a confrontation

Re: Kenya Defence Force
ya I also agree with mzalendo . show us a site that concludes on the EM series. The rest is just smear campaigning. As far as my knowledge and from the site posted the EM series belong to Brazil. They are called the F-5BR or F-5EM. They is no site that links Kenya to the BR or EM series and the modification were done by Embraer a brazil company.

Re: Kenya Defence Force
Whichever way you look at it, there are no decent jets in the region that can rival the F-5s at the moment.
Somebody said above that the F-5 has outlived its usefulness which is probably true, but which other county's fighter jets in East Africa can out do this bird? The nearest decent 4th generation jets are to be found in the Sudan (MiG 29s) and Ethiopia ( SU-27s). Uganda's few MiG 21s/MiG 23s and Tanzania's F-7s are not any better. Besides Uganda's MiG 23s have never been observed in action thereby casting doubt about their serviceability. These jets were procured as a stop gap measure and meant to restore then air force to full strength following a reduction in its fighter jet numbers. One would expect the reported acquisition of SU-30MK2s by Uganda to give that country a considerable air muscle, but these are yet to be received hence there is very little to brag about as of now. In any case other players in the region will be watching keenly and taking notes with a view to coming up with counter measures of their own. Already TZ is rumored to be shopping for MiG 29s. Talk of an arms race in the region.
