Kenya use to be a threath zamani. But now its just like any other military force in east Africa. You guys lost it when you couldn,t keep up with military investments. Sasa ngoma ni draw.

These are some of the pictures I was promising you. Our forces have been modernized with new equipments. These are some of our latest assault riles. More are to come.
Heee mzalendo .holding fancy assault rifles doesn’t warrant it to be a specialized force. Special Forces have a heavy mandate to handle. Are you serious really ? this is your version of special forces? special forces are so versatile that even simple weapons like Bolt action rifle can be lethal weapons in their hands. Anyway congratulations for purchasing newer rifles.

Lakini hata hivyo -''Field Force Unit'' is not Army. I know the detail of their Kit, as well as their other operational detail. Lete Jeshi hapa, Shee, tafadhali!

Pretty old stuff, last production in the mid-eighties. And combat effectiveness not certain, in battery-form, due to usual equipment loss / mechanical disrepair / etc. etc. Typical state genereally speaking at the present moment of the much vaunted TZ-Missile Shield. Little expenditure on replacement and modernisation in the past twenty years, while it remains mostly a infantry-defined Military Force.
The 2K12 "Kub" (Russian: 2К12 "Куб"; English: cube) mobile surface-to-air missile system is a Soviet low to medium-level air defence system designed to protect ground forces from air attack. "2К12" is the GRAU designation of the system. Kub is known in the west by its NATO reporting name "Gainful" as well as the US Department of Defense designation SA-6.
Each 2K12 battery consists of a number of similar tracked vehicles, one of which carries the 1S91 (SURN vehicle, NATO designation "Straight Flush") 25 kW G/H band radar (range 75 km/47 miles) equipped with a continuous wave illuminator, in addition to an optical sight. The battery usually also includes four triple-missile transporter erector launchers (TELs) and four trucks each carrying three spare missiles and a crane. TEL is based on a GM-578 chassis, while the 1S91 radar vehicle on a GM-568, all developed and produced by MMZ. Variants 3M9, 3M9M1, 3M9M3, 3M9M4
Weight 599 kg
Length 5800 mm
Diameter 335 mm
Warhead Frag-HE
Warhead weight 59 kg

Anti radiation missile is a big investment.. But if you look into the info that Col. Nkarei posted, you will see the Achilles' heel of the system. I am sure that the Tz official wetted their pants when they so it being mention casually on this site.
@ jasiri Wewe wajifanya bingwa mwanahewa point it out the Achilles' heel in the system.

Tank-killer Choppers? MD500 to boot? Which strain? how many? When?
For a TZ Chopper the hue is incorrrect on the one in your post - looks to me like a Kenyan 50th Air-Calv bird over magadi on a training CAP. The Colours are not visible either. Wee shemeji wee!! Wacha hayo!!

I think the Hughes/MD 500 is not Tanzanian. All the sources i have checked do not show that TZ has this type of chopper. Any link bwana mzalendo?

Shemeji, skiza bana . See the elevation of the Kilimanjaro, it’s snow-cap , the position of the sun on it? I know that area damn well, grew up in it. Had JWTZ ‘’invaded’’ Kenya (nothing strategically vital in that sector to invite a snooping aerial visit). Moreover the Camo on that bird is all wrong for your JWTZ , Force-colours missing. The thing is unarmed, a trainer most likely (a unarmed cross-border sortie even if the border is friendly?). No MD 500 in Tanzania, shemeji. Prove it – post a clear shot with the colours and Camo visible.

No ndugu. It is not a question of Asiye kubali kushindwa. Hapana, hakuna mashindano hapa, lakini i just got curious and wanted to be clear.

Shee shee, wewe mchungu kweli! You have studied the position of the sunlight and topography and pin pointed its hovering position. Safi sana bwana.
Haya basi ndugu zanguni.. Lakini la msingi ni kwamba
1. MD500 is roaming around Kilimanjaro
2. it not a Kenyan. That is for sure
3. Its not a civilian one too but a military helicopter.
Lakini sijui kwa nini mwatatizwa sana nasi kuwa na MD500. JWTZ kwani pia sini jeshi lenye uwezo waki leo? Leave the MD500 for a future proval.

It is perfectly in order for JWTZ to own a MD500 chopper. We have no problem with that. After all it is an East African force and we appreciate. I don't think each member state is intent on fighting another.
As for air transport fleet, i may not be sure, but i thought Kenya had a much bigger fleet in the region. I stand to be corrected though.

Re: Jeshi la Wananchi wa Tanzania (JWTZ)
we are not fighting guys. Its just a debate like in parliament. There after they are no hard feelings. We can drink some tea or beer. These discussions can help us all. I believe they are military personnel that visit the site. who knows ,they could pick up some useful details and ideas which will develop our air force and the region at
Ok according tho Olekoima
its the Kenyan side but his still isn,t sure . so he is just being a patriot.
Kenya has only two types of transporters that we have .the Buffalo and the Y-12 . we also have more heavier newer therefore reliable lifters like the Y-8 and robust carriers that can land vitally anywhere SD 3 -30. come on lets give credit where its due.

I see inaccuracies and omissions on the Kenyan Index, and errors in the Rwandan Index too. But it is generally indicative of the stores in each country though.
